CBD for Pets
CBD for Pets
All mammels have an endocannabinoid system, humans, cats, dogs, horses. This means our furry family friends that live with us, giving us their endless love each day can benefit from cannabidiol (CBD) medications and treatments.
The endocannabinoid system is a nerve signaling system throughout all mammels bodies that helps maintain physiological, emotional and cognitive stability. The ECS is a complex nerve cell signaling system that modulates the central nervous system and helps maintain homeostasis
Anyone who owns a pet will know that they can get sick just like us, or suffer from anxiety or depression just like we can, aches pains, pulled muscles, appetite issues and general old age. As they are an important part to our family units, we always want what’s best for them.
Anxiety in Pets
Does your pet get anxious at loud noises, fireworks, banging, music?
Do they stress and fret when you leave the house and cause destruction and damage?
Howl, cry in distress when no-one is home and your out at work?
Do you have a cat that over cleans itself, and bites at its own legs or paws?
Anxiety isn’t just something that we as humans suffer from our pets do to, anything can trigger it from a new baby in the house, new pet, being left alone for first time.
Research has shown that CBD can help your pets, to stay calmer, happier and healthier, just a few drops in their food twice a day and you will see a difference, and they will begin to feel so much more relaxed and calmer.
Pets & Pain
Unfortunately our furry friends age and get old just like us, leading to joint pain, arthritis, gum disease and tooth decay, seizures, lose of appetite, no one likes to see their pet suffering. Adding CBD into your pets daily lifestyle can help to boost their immune systems and trigger their ECS to react to their bodies receptors which help to manage pain and inflammation, making their lives a little more comfortable and their pain more managable.
How does CBD affect my pet?
When you give CBD to your pet, watch for signs of a positive or negative reaction.
For example, if you give CBD to your dog 15 minutes before a firework show and then find them settled and calm during the loud bangs of the show going on outside when they’d usually be cowering in a corner or shaking with fear, then the CBD has probably been effective.
Or if your pet suffers from mobility issues, and you begin giving them 1 to 2 drops a day in their meals, after about a week of CBD you discover they’re more able to run and jump like they used to, then that is a postive result and the CBD is working for them.
Some negative effects to look for are excessive panting, lethargy, vomiting, dribbling urine, and loss of balance. If your pet is exhibiting any of these symptoms, they may have consumed too much and may be experiencing toxic effects, their bodies can react slightly differently to ours.
Reduce the amount and see if this eases their symptoms.
Methods of giving my pet CBD
Placing the product directly in their mouth is most commonly the easiest way to give your pet CBD, using a dropper based on the number of drops that you need to give your dog, the severity of the dog’s condition, weight, or size. under their tongue.
If there’s one thing all pets have in common, it’s that they LOVE food, and could eat all day if we let them. Our four-legged friends will quickly clear their bowlsif you feed them their favorite meal. If you want to give your pet CBD, then you can add CBD oil to his or her’s favorite meal. This helps to ensure that they will consume all the CBD.
You can even present their CBD oil as a treat, grab their favourite snack, peanut butter, a biscuit treat, a bit of meat, add the required amount of CBD, let it absorb for a few minutes, then let your pet munch it!
